Ingredients
For the Crust
- 1Egg
- 100 gSunflower Oil
- 150 gCaster Sugar
- 350 gPlain Flour
- 1 teaspoonBaking Powder
- The Juice of Half a Lemon
For the Filling
- 6Apples
- 50 gCaster Sugar
- 50 gRaisin
- 1 teaspoonGround Cinnamon
- 1 teaspoonGround Nutmeg
- 3Crushed Cloves
- 1 cupWater
- The Juice of Half a Lemon
- 1 spoonPlain Flour
Preparation
1- Preheat the oven to 325°F/180°C; Line a 9 inch tart pan with parchment paper or grease it with cooking spray, set aside.
2- Prepare the Filling: Peel the Apples, remove the seeds and chop them in pieces as much as possible of the same size, put them in a sauce pan with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves crushed with the hands, raisins, lemon juice and the water.
3- Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until the apples become soft, turn off the heat, add the flour then mix again until well combined, set aside.
4- Prepare the Crust: Put the Egg, Sunflower Oil, Lemon Juice and Sugar in a large bowl, mix the ingredients with a spoon until gelatinous but smooth, add the Flour and Baking Powder.
5- Keep mixing until well combined, we should get a smooth and easy-to-shape dough.
6- Stick the dough along the side and on the base of the tart pan using the hands, trim the edges with a knife.
7- Pour the filling then level well using the back of a spoon.
8- if you have some remaining dough, crumble it over the filling dropping it from your fingertips.
9- Bake the Spiced Apple Tart for about 40 minutes or until golden brown.
